CASTLETON IN PERFORMANCE (CiP), a year-round series, continues to offer a multicultural experience. This thematically diverse series of recitals, chamber music, jazz, world music, theatre, chamber opera, and dance, brings internationally acclaimed artists into our own backyard. Eminent performers have included Lorin Maazel, Itzhak Perlman, José Carreras, Emanuel Ax, Yefim Bronfman, Carter Brey & Christopher O’Riley, Jordi Savall, Eileen Ivers, Sir James and Lady Jeanne Galway, pepe Romero, Gil Shaham, randy Weston, Wynston Marsalis, Chinese traditional soloists, international Dance Companies and Choirs, actors Alec Baldwin and Claire Bloom, alongside rewarding family programs (The Cashore Marionettes, Avner “The Eccentric” Eisenberg, Tomáš Kubínek, Tom Teasley and Synetic Theater).
Vocal Immersion Program: Internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung and tenor Paul groves spearhead Castleton’s immersive program (ViP) for emerging professional singers. This program is two-weeks long for 12 singers, culminating in two performances, in January.
For audition information and more detailed description, please visit the ‘Vocal Immersion Program’ tab in the navigation menu.
USC-Castleton Immersion Program: Renowned Castleton Alums, now faculty, invite their top students for an immersion program for two-weeks in August. Bridging the gap between university and conservatory training, students leave with audition tapes (recorded in the acoustically ideal Castleton Theatre House) and monologue in hand to present in auditions for agents and companies. This program is co-sponsored by the University of South Carolina School of Music.
