What is Castleton Farms?
Castleton Farms is the 500 acre home of the Maazel family, located in Rappahannock County, VA.
Where is the Castleton located?
Our address is 671 Castleton View Road, Castleton, Virginia. We are located about 60 miles from Washington, D.C.
How do I get there?
Please visit the “Directions” option on the “Visit” menu.
Are the venues air-conditioned?
Yes. The Theatre House is air-conditioned.
Are performances inside?
Our venues are inside. The Theatre House is a smaller theatre, contained in a larger building.
What type of performances does the Castleton present?
The Castleton Festival presents operas, theatre, symphonic concerts, recitals, bluegrass, chamber music, and jazz.
What is the dress code?
The dress code is “country club casual.” We have patrons who come in cocktail dresses, as well as patrons in khaki shorts. The walkways near the Festival Theatre are gravel, so walking in heels may be difficult. The Festival Theatre is air-conditioned, so patrons are advised to dress accordingly.
Do you have a gift shop?
No, there is not a gift shop in the Theatre House.
Is there food available?
Limited refreshments are sold at intermission.
Can I picnic?
Picnics are allowed and encouraged on the patio outside of the Festival Theatre. We also sell wine, beer, food, and picnic baskets at the Festival, which are permitted inside the lobby of the theatres as well as outdoors. Alcohol cannot be brought to the Festival as part of your picnic.
Can I enjoy my food in the theatres?
Food and drinks are not permitted inside the theatres.
Where do I collect Will Call tickets?
The Theatre House Box Office is located directly next to the entrance to the Theatre, inside the building.
How does parking work?
Parking for the Theatre House is directly across the street from the venue. Parking at the Castleton Festival is free.
Where should I stay when I visit the Festival?
Rappahannock, Fauquier, and Culpeper counties boast a wide variety of accommodation options. Please visit the “Accommodations” to view our sister venue, The Meadows at Castleton, for luxury accommodations on the Castleton Festival property.
Are there English translations for the operas?
Yes, English translations are projected on screens above the stage for performances in the Festival Theatre.
How early should I arrive?
We recommend at least fifteen minutes to park and make your way through the lobby; if you are picking up tickets, please allow an extra five minutes. The lobby opens two hours before every performance and we encourage you to arrive then to enjoy concessions and the beautiful Rappahannock County scenery.
